Limerick Soundmapping Broadcast
Saturday 14 March, Sunday 15 March, Thursday 19 March
WestLimerick.fm, Lyric.fm, Wired.fm
As part of OPEN e v+ a 2009 German artist Florian Hüttner in collaboration with Eagsuil on WestLimerick.fm, Nova on RTÉ lyric fm and Wired.fm, presents a “soundmapping” of Limerick. Soundmapping is a way of exploring an area by recording and listening back to its sounds. Earlier in the year Hüttner made extensive recordings at multiple locations in Limerick and has edited them to form this unique record of a time and a place. Hüttner’s three pieces will be broadcast WestLimerick.fm on Saturday 14th March 7:00 - 8:00 pm, Lyric.fm on at Sunday 15th March 9:30 pm and Wired.fm on Thursday 19th March 2:00 pm Sunday the 15th of March. Nova's programme’s producer, Eoin O Kelly says, “The piece is an excellent fit for the programme as Nova is all about new music, new sounds and experimentation in the medium of sound”.
