Limerick City Gallery of Art: curating and celebrating artistic creativity, past, present and future.


Limerick City Gallery of Art is one of the leading contemporary art galleries in Ireland and home to an important collection of Irish 18th to 21st century art in all media, amounting to over 831 works.

LCGA also holds the National Collection of Contemporary Drawing and the Michael O’Connor International Poster Collection consisting of over 2800 works of international design.

 LCGA aims to: 

  • Provide an innovative exhibition programme, which offers regional, national and international artists the opportunity to experiment, develop and display their work.
  • Acquire, conserve, research, communicate and exhibit the Permanent Collection, for purposes of study, education and enjoyment.       
  • Deliver a high quality public service for local communities, national and international visitors to participate in and to enjoy exciting cultural experiences.

LCGA hosts EVA International previously ev+a (Exhibition of Visual+ Art)  inviting a leading international curator to curate an exhibition for Limerick City, in formal exhibition areas and city wide venues.  Contact & queries to email  web:

The historic Carnegie Building housing LCGA in the People's Park underwent its most recent redevelopment which was completed in 2012.  LCGA has about 650 square metres of exhibition space on the ground and first floor galleries


Limerick City Gallery of Art is fully accessible with a ramp at the front entrance, wide doorways, a lift and disabled toilet facilities and the Zest Cafe.
