Virtual Artist in Residency - Dr Rajinder Singh
Test Space Residency is a new and forward-thinking residency model that aspires to meet the needs of a wide range of art practitioners. It considers the availability of LCGA space both physically and virtually. From September - December 2021 LCGA hosted the inaugural Physical and Virtual Artists in Residence, local artist Carl Doran and London-based choreographer Rajinder Singh.
Carl Doran utilised a physical purpose built studio space in the Herbert Gallery at LCGA, creating new in-situ works, working on ongoing projects, and identifying communities relating to the Arts Councils EHRD Policy that he was interested in collaborating with.
Dr Rajinder Singh utilised this LCGA virtual space – Pages, a temporary online website platform, and identified areas of the Arts Councils EHRD Policy he was interested in. He spent his residency researching structures used by migrant art collectives to connect and support one another.
