Seminar: Is Reading Relevant?

LCGA will present an afternoon seminar titled Is Reading Relevant? at Ormston House on Wednesday 28 September, 2-4pm. The seminar aims to expand on and contextualise the subjects and themes of the current exhibition Convergence: Literary Art Exhibitions, taking place at two venues in Limerick: Ormston House, Patrick Street and Istabraq Hall, Merchant's Quay.

Convergence investigates how art practice, literature and exhibition formats can relate to each other. Part of its premise is to demonstrate that writers continue to have something to say to artists today (and artists to writers). In the context of the visual arts the seminar aims to consider if artists need to engage with the written word and, how does literature lend itself as source and sustenance to visual artists?

The seminar will be chaired by Dr. Kieran Cashell of the Limerick School of Art and Design.
